NEXT CAFÉ ASSISTANT MANAGER MISSION To build the Indigo business and reputation in the café so that the café achieves its full sales, customer satisfaction and profit potential. To build and nurture the Indigo café consistent with Indigo's human resource principals and practices. To deliver the highest level of customer service - Our Indigo Service Guarantee. KEY PERFORMANCE MEASURES Café sales. Customer satisfaction rating with the café Indigo reputation in the trade area. Performance review rating KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Human Resource/Organization Development Provides Café staff/supervisors with a clear understanding of performance standards and Human Resource Policies & Practices within Indigo. Coaches and motivates all Café staff consistent with Indigo retail process performance standards and Human Resource Policies & Practices. Participates in the recruitment of Café staff. Manages the join-up and training of Café staff and ensures that a process is in place. Conducts performance reviews for Café staff consistent with Human Resource Policies & Practices. Supports all Café staff as required to ensure the quality of customer experience in the store. Uses corrective action to effectively maintain a fair work environment. Business Operations Works with the Café manager to ensure the effective scheduling of staff in the department consistent with both customer service requirements and efficient utilization of resources. Prepares food and beverage using pre-determined recipes. Operates cash register using existing pricing formulas. Follows cash-out procedures in a timely and discreet manner. Processes orders of incoming product and ensures proper storage/rotation requirements are satisfied. This activity may require lifting objects up to twenty-five pounds. Accurate understanding of budget objectives i.e.-top-line sales. Perpetually manages controllable costs (labour/cost of goods/supplies) Builds the spirit and energy in the team through coaching and communication. Ensures the "presentation" of the Indigo café is totally consistent with Indigo merchandising and physical presentation standards. Makes recommendations to appropriate individual on improvement/ change and customers' product requests to enhance café performance. Spends considerable time interacting with customers and selling consistent with the retail selling process to ensure that the Indigo Service Guarantee is consistently delivered. Ensures effective communication to Café staff/supervisors for all relevant information to conduct business. Ensures that the their team updates their knowledge on product, service, trends and Indigo through communication channels established. Directs the workflow and assignments within the department. GENERAL Makes suggestions and provides ideas for improvement related to any area of the business to the Café manager. KEY RELATIONSHIPS Reports to: the Café manager. Interfaces and builds relationships with all members of the store team, Director of café operations/Operations manager, Indigo café. Customers PERSON SPECIFICATIONS The person in this role should have university education, a career interest in the café environment, including at least 1 year of in-store managerial experience. The Assistant manager should have effective communication skills, a strong and natural service orientation and the ability to earn the confidence and support of others. In particular this role requires an individual with demonstrated, strong selling skills. Experience in people management preferred.
