The Plug-in Software Development Kit can be used by adventure module creators to add immense value to their product with very little overhead. The software development kit shows adventure module creators how to leverage the monumental amount of existing software and other intellectual property offered by the dice server. The dice server is a versatile client side JavaScript application that runs in any JavaScript 1.2 enabled web browser. The adventure module creators can focus on their plot lines, character scripts, sound effects, and artwork without worrying about software development, software maintenance, computer platform dependency, or web browser compatibility issues.
The SDK comes with a sample adventure module plug-in, JavaScript 1.2 and HTML 3.0 compatible templates, Visual Basic code examples and Ivories^tm the Adventure Module Plug-in Link tool for OEMs using a Microsoft Install Application, and a book that details all the steps necessary to integrate your artwork, special effects, and plot elements into the plug-in. Here's the important thing, NO SOFTWARE EXPERIENCE is NECESSARY. The adventure module creator can simply paste four basic predefined types of links into the HTML plug-in document - a random-roll table lookup link, a sound effect link, a dice expression link, and a standard link that portray the creator's material the way he wants. The basic links allow the adventure module creator to playback .wav sound effects associated to an item or spell for each roll of the dice on his plug-in. Also, your plug-in can display your work as a background, in a new window, in the dice server's history window, and in a local text box built in to the plug-in, or payback a .wav sound effect. Additionally, you can popup a random table entry in an HTML document or display random table information in the dice server's history window when you use the dice server to roll a random dice value.
